A Turtle’s Tribute:

Blake who was a native of Longview was a member of the Turtle Creek Chorale during the 25th season. His first performance was in the Texas Chorale Roundup in September 2004. His final performance with the Chorale was in Forever Plaid in June 2005.

Blake was born on August 9, 1978. He graduated from Longview High School in 1996. He was involved in Longview Community Theater. Blake worked for Wells Fargo Bank and lived in the Dallas area for four years.

While in Dallas he co-founded a non-profit social network, and volunteered with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Blake died Thursday, July 12, 2007 in Longview. Services were held Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Raker Funeral Home in Longview, and Monday, July 16, 2007 at Longview Missionary Baptist Church in Longview.

He was survived by his mother, Teri Lynn Ray of Longview; his father, Lenny Ray of Longview; his sisters, Heather Grindle of Tatum, Megan Ray of Longview, Haley Baxter of Longview and Holli Wynne of Gilmer; his brother, Heath Ray, a sailor in the U.S. Navy stationed in Sasebo, Japan, and his grandparents, Barbara and Don Pharis of Vernon.

Funeral services for Adam “Blake” Ray,28, of Dallas, will be held at 2 p.m.

Monday, July 16, 2007, at the Longview Missionary Baptist Church, with the
Reverend Noah Lee and the Reverend Steve Morcom officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens of Gilmer, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.

He passed away Thursday, July 12, 2007, at a hospital in Longview.
Blake was born August 9, 1978, in Longview. He was a 1996 graduate of
Longview High School. He loved life and music and sang at numerous benefits and events in the East Texas area. He was a member of the Longview Community Theater. While in Dallas, Blake co-founded the “A Group” and sang with the Turtle Creek Chorale.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Yvonne Ray; and
grandfather, Paul Morcom.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Teri Lynn Ray; father, Lenny Ray and his wife, Debby, all of Longview; sisters, Heather Grindle and husband, Fred of Tatum, Megan Ray and Haley Baxter, both of Longview, and Holli Wynne and husband, Billy of Gilmer;brother, Heath Ray, U. S. Navy, and wife  Angila of Sasebo, Japan; grandparents, Barbara and Don Pharis of Vernon, Horace Ray of Gilmer, and Linda Morcom of Waco; special longtime friend, Don McPherson of Tyler; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Britt Carter, Michael Turner, Fred Grindle, J.J. Moses, Steve Farris and Ryan Moore.
