A Turtle’s Tribute:
Daniel was a Houston native. He received a bachelor’s degree in performance from Baylor University in Waco in 1973.
During a career that spanned more than 20 years, Dan worked as a vocal coach, chorus master, church organist and accompanied opera companies in Dallas, Fort Worth and Corpus Christi.
He also accompanied the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Belvedere in Vienna and the Columbus Opera in Ohio during competitions. He was an accompanist for the Turtle Creek Chorale and an organist at the Kessler Park church, First Community Church and First United Methodist Church. He was a featured pianist for the “Peace” CD by The Turtle Creek Chorale.
Dan was awarded a Gramma Fisher Foundation Fellowship and a National Opera Institute
Daniel passed away on April 17, 1995 at his home. A memorial service was held for him at the Kessler Park United Methodist Church in Dallas on April 22, 1995.
He is survived by his brother & sister-in-law, Glen & Kathy Deason of Henderson, Texas.
