A Turtle’s Tribute:

David, age 43, died July 16, 2006 at his home in Dallas. His ashes will be returned to his home in North Carolina.

He is survived by his parents, Reverend G. Woody and Joyce D. Alexander of Huntersville, NC: his sister, Marsha A. Tabillo and her husband, Lou, and daughter Abigail of Hudson, NC; and his brother, William E. Alexander of Greensboro, NC. He was a graduate of Mars Hill College and earned a Masters Degree in Music Education at the University of Illinois. He was a teacher in the Dallas School System as well as director of several church choirs. The Alexander family received frinds on Sunday, July 23 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Hunterville, NC. Funeral was private.

A Turtle’s History

John Davidson (David) Alexander was a member of the Chorale from 1989 through 2001. He sang tenor II and baritone.

He was the Baritone Music Section Leader in seasons 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16 and 17.

David first performed with the Chorale in “Requiem” in March 1989. His last performance was in Opposites Attract in June 2001. During that time he was featured in several concerts shown below.

TEXAS HO HO HO DOWN – December 1989 sang “Ave Maria” with the Small Group

FROM THE HEART – May 1990 – sang a solo of “Waters Ripple and Flow”

FA LA LA! – December 1991 – played one of the New Elves on the Block in the Santa’s 2-fer Discount Wholesale Warehouse Club skit.

THE WIZARD OF OZ – October 1993 – played the parts of a Poppy and a Flying Monkey

BETTY, BROADWAY AND THE BOYS – October 1994 – sang with the Acafellas in “Soon It’s Gonna’ Rain” from Fantastiks

BLAST FROM THE PAST & BEST FROM THE FUTURE – December 1994 – sang with the Acafellas in “Do You Hear What I Hear” and sang “The First Noel” as a solo .

THE MILLENNIUM – October 1995 – sang with the Acafellas in “Je le Vous Dirai I”

HOLIDAYS OF THE FUTURE – December 1995 – sang with the Acafellas in “Sleighride” and sang with ENCORE! and the Acafellas in “Christmas Fits”

A GERSHWIN EXPLOSION – March 1996 – was a member of the Jazz Ensemble
