A Turtle’s Tribute:
Michael was born on September 11, 1954 in Liberal, Kansas. He attended Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas where he attained a Bachelors Degree in Music Education in 1978. He attained his Masters of Music in 1980.
Michael played string bass and cello for the Wichita Symphony Orchestra in Wichita, Kansas. He also played with the Richardson Symphony Orchestra upon relocating to Texas in 1984.
Michael worked for the Dallas Area Rapid Transit in the Mobility Services Department as a Rideshare Specialist.
Michael played piano for his own enjoyment and loved 20th century music, especially Stravinsky and Copeland. Until ill health prevented his participation in the summer of 1994, he enjoyed sharing the experience of making beautiful music with the Chorale.
Michael passed away on November 6, 1994.
At the time of his death, Michael was survived by his parents; Sadie and Lyle Burton and a brother, Richard Burton of Iola Kansas. At the time of his death, Michael’’s best friend and care giver was Tab Boyles, also a member of the Chorale.
Michael is interred in Yates Center, Kansas.
