From his obituary in the Dallas Morning News (04/11/2005):

Sterling, beloved husband, devoted father and Christian gentleman, passed away at home in Dallas on April 8, 2005 after a brief illness. Born September 17, 1947 in San Antonio. He was an “Army brat” who traveled the globe with his family and graduated valedictorian from Rayford High School in Honolulu.

After graduating from Rice University, he earned an M.D. fro UT Southwestern Medical School and practiced medicine as a family physician in Dallas until December, 2004. He was on the staff of Medical City Hospital, and served as past president of the Dallas Academy of Family Physcians. Having a life-long love of music, he faithfully served the Lord with his talents singing in his church’s choir.

Sterling is survived by his wife of 33 years, Becky; daughter, Elizabeth and husband, Bobby Campbell; grandchildren, Caroline and Jack; sister, Linda and niece, Jenna Walton; brother, Norman Walton. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at Park Cities Presbyterian Church.

A Turtle’s History

Sterling was a founding member of the Turtle Creek Chorale. He sang with the Chorale from 1980 thru 1981.
